Terms of service
Last updated: 6 May 2026
This is a working draft pending legal review. The framework below governs how you use the platform today; the formal terms will be published before public launch.
The deal in plain language
New Wave Born is a magazine and creator-owned music platform for Caribbean and African diaspora artists. By creating an account or using any part of the site, you agree to these terms.
Your account
You're responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials safe. Don't share your account; don't impersonate anyone else; you must be 13 or older to create an account.
If you upload (artists)
- You must own or control the rights to everything you upload — music, lyrics, cover art, video.
- Every upload requires a rights attestation. We log it with your IP and timestamp.
- You grant New Wave Born a non-exclusive licence to host and stream your work for as long as it's on the platform. You keep the copyright; we are not your manager or publisher.
- You can take your work down at any time. If you do, plays recorded up to that point still count for payout calculations.
- Repeat infringement of someone else's copyright will get your account permanently banned. See the DMCA policy for the takedown workflow.
If you listen / read (everyone)
- Don't try to scrape, mirror, or rip audio / video from the platform.
- Don't post abuse, hate speech, or spam in comments.
- Be a good neighbour to artists — they're putting their work out into the world.
Payments
Subscription, merch, and ad terms will be added when those features ship. Until then, the platform is free.
Liability
We provide the platform "as is". We're not liable for indirect damages — lost revenue, lost data, third-party content. Where the law allows us to limit our liability, we do.
Changing these terms
We'll post material changes to this page and email registered users before they take effect. If you don't like a change, you can close your account.
